What was D-Day?
How would you feel if you were landing on the west coast of Europe during World War II? Probably scared, right? Well that's exactly how people during D-Day felt. The war was a difficult time for American soldiers. First, D-Day was the day American troops landed on the west coast of Europe. They attacked on the west coast with many tanks and air support. The rest was on land. Secondly, While on the coast, they tricked the Nazis into thinking they were moving with 19 tanks. They did that with tank rolls, and the trick worked. The Nazis fled. Finally, in at least a week, over 2,000,000 troops had landed in Normandy. Out of the 2,000,000 soldiers, 330,003 people died. As you can see, D-Day was a dangerous time for American soldiers. They were very scared but knew they needed to protect their country. |
